With just 3 ingredients and 15 minutes you can make this divinely rich and nutrient-packed Pistachio Chocolate Banana Sushi. No oven or baking required!
This naturally gluten-free / dairy-free / vegan recipe is obviously inspired by my found love for sushi.
Honestly, I love everything about it, but mostly the bite-sized shape, which makes it great to serve at parties or for a quick snack. I’ve made a fun veggie-packed zucchini sushi in the past, but this time I challenged myself to make a sweet version of this staple of japanese cuisine.
Seriously, how fabulous is that? Healthy bananas covered with decadent dark chocolate and topped with crunchy, slightly salty protein-rich pistachios. If you ask me, this Pistachio Chocolate Banana Sushi is the ultimate indulgent sweet treat that is actually good for you.
This awesome recipe has some of my all-time favourite ingredients: banana, dark chocolate and delicious pistachios. Yes, you got it right, only 3 basic ingredients are required to make this mesmerizing dessert sushi. Make sure to choose high-quality dark chocolate made with cocoa butter and no nasty additives for healthier results, and two bananas that are just perfectly ready to eat ( not the green or overripe ones).
The real deal of this delicious dessert are the pistachios. I’m a huge fan of this superfood and I can find it often in my recipes. I’m extra careful when choosing them, especially because I want to get the best of their nutrients.
So I’m really proud to collaborate with American Pistachio Growers, which is a voluntary agricultural trade association representing growers, processors and industry partners in California, Arizona and New Mexico. They take incredible care in growing, in a sustainable way, the best pistachios you can honestly find out there, and their core mission is to spread the word about the many health benefits of this super nut.
Pistachios are powerful tiny nuts. They are a great source of many essential vitamins, minerals and fiber. Above all they’re packed with protein, which contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle.
As part of my collaboration with American Pistachio Growers, I took their 10 and 2 challenge for 2 weeks, so I ate a small pack of pistachios at 10am and 2pm everyday. I can happily say that snacking on pistachios not only helped me having less cravings in-between meals, but it also gave me overall more energy. But don’t take my word for granted, give it a try and let me know how you feel. You can share your opinion on any social media by using the hashtag #pistachiopower, or simply comment here below. Now, going back to this mouth-watering Pistachio Chocolate Banana Sushi recipe, it literally takes no more than 15 mins to put together.
Start by covering the bananas with melted chocolate, to avoid sticky chocolatey fingers, stick a toothpick at both ends of the bananas, so it’s easier to hold them while you cover them. Then sprinkle the bananas with chopped pistachios and put them in the freezer for a couple of minutes, to allow the chocolate to set. Once the chocolate is hard enough, cut the bananas into bite-sized sushi pieces with a sharp knife.
That’s it, I promise it takes longer to read the recipe then actually making it!
This Pistachio Chocolate Banana Sushi is SO pretty, sophisticated and surprisingly simple to put together in a snap. Whether you’re serving them for a party, or simply looking for a healthy fun snack, these easy peasy treats are a total success!
