Top places to eat on Vulcano Island, picked by a local — from granita to pane cunzato and fresh seafood, no tourist traps here!
One of the best parts about visiting Vulcano Island—besides the volcano hikes, warm mud baths, and black sand beaches—is definitely the food.
This little island may be small, but it’s full of flavor, fresh seafood, and that cozy, welcoming vibe you only find in true Sicilian kitchens.
I’ve been spending my holidays in Vulcano for over 30 years, and I can honestly say I know the island inside out! I’ve eaten in just about every bar, trattoria, and restaurant it has to offer.
As someone who knows the island well, I’ve gathered a list of my favorite spots to eat, from laid-back trattorias by the beach to romantic restaurants with unforgettable sunset views.
Whether you're in the mood for a plate of pasta con il pescespada (swordfish pasta), or just a perfectly made granita after a swim—this guide has you covered!
These are the places where locals go, where the fish is caught fresh each morning, and where every meal feels like home.
So if you're heading to Vulcano, come hungry—and make sure to try at least a few of these hidden gems!
The King of Fish Restaurant
The King of Fish is one of the best seafood restaurants on Vulcano Island.
It’s part fish market, part restaurant—so you know the fish is super fresh! You pick what you want from the counter, and they cook it right there for you.
The grilled fish is amazing, and they have tasty raw seafood too. It’s a bit pricey, but totally worth it for the quality. If you love seafood, this place is a must-try!
Il Cappero, Therasia Resort
Il Cappero restaurant at Therasia Resort is a must-visit for anyone who loves fine dining. With a Michelin star and stunning views, the creative tasting menus use fresh, local ingredients. The experience is perfect for a special night out, especially at sunset!
For a more laid-back vibe, check out I Grusoni, their sister restaurant. It’s a casual spot with wood-fired pizzas, grilled seafood, and a relaxed atmosphere.
Both places offer amazing views and fantastic food—whether you’re in the mood for something fancy or more chill!
Malvasia Pane Cunzato & Restaurant
Pane Cunzato is the heart and soul of Aeolian cuisine—a simple yet delicious dish. It’s a slice of traditional bread topped with cherry tomatoes, anchovies, capers, and olives, creating a perfect balance of bold flavors.
And if you want to try the best pane cunzatu in Vulcano head over to Malvasia Pane Cunzatu & Restaurant.
Guests can customize their own "pane cunzatu" with a variety of fresh, local toppings or choose from the daily specials that highlight the best of Eolian and Sicilian cuisine. The restaurant also offers vegan and gluten-free options.
I recommend making a reservation well in advance, especially during the weekend, as finding a table without one can be quite tricky.
Ritrovo Levante
Just a short walk from Vulcano’s port, you'll discover what I believe is the best granita in Vulcano, at Ritrovo Levante.
You absolutely have to try the granita di gelsi (mulberry granita) along with the lemon granita, and then the other classics: pistachio, almond, strawberry, and coffee. Served with fresh cream whipped to perfection.
Second on my list is ‘A Zammara Bar and Restaurant, nestled at Sabbie Nere (the black sand beach).
Sip on your granita while dipping your feet into the unique black sand, all while watching one of the island's most stunning sunsets.
9852 Vulcano Home Restaurant
If you’re looking for a cozy spot with great food near Vulcano’s port, head over to 9852 Vulcano Home Restaurant!
The pasta with swordfish and eggplant is absolutely delicious, with perfect flavors that scream Sicilian summer. The pizza here is also fantastic—crispy, flavorful, and definitely worth trying.
